On March 25, 2019, NJ TRANSIT hosted a special event with disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) prime contractors, and agency partner organizations, showcasing more than $800 million worth of upcoming capital construction projects and opportunities that will be available at the statewide transportation agency. Specific attention was paid by the speakers to subcontracting opportunities that would lend themselves to DBE participation. An overflow crowd of approximately 150 industry representatives was in attendance.
Joining NJ TRANSIT for the session was New Jersey Chief Diversity Officer Hester Agudosi, who highlighted the state’s commitment to diversifying and expanding opportunities in the contracting pool. NJ TRANSIT is proactively working to maximize DBE participation on its contracts.
This was the Corporation’s first major outreach event of its kind hosted by the agency in the past 10 years but certainly not the last! NJ TRANSIT is already planning for a larger contracting event in late Fall of 2019, as it focuses on outreach to historically disadvantaged businesses across the State.
